Theodoros Zagorakis (27/10/1971 - )
He was born in a town near Kavala in 1971 and started his career at the local football team in 1989, at the Second and Third National League. When he was 21 years old, in 1992, he was transferred to PAOK, and started playing for the First National League. In 1998, he went to the United Kingdom, where he played for Leicester FC in the Premier League. Although he did not participate in the final, he was member of the team when it won the Football League Cup. In 2000, he returned to Greece to play for AEK Football Club. The success of the National Team of Greece at the European Championship of 2004 offered him the chance to participate in the Campionato, as member of the Bolognia Football Club, for one year. He then returned to Greece to play for PAOK, where he completed his football career two years later.
Zagorakis is ranked second in players participating at the Greek National Team, having a total of 120 appearances in the period 1994 – 2007. He was the leader of the Team when it won the European Championship, and he was declared Most Valuable Player of the Championship. In June 2007, he became president of PAOK, as a transitive solution, until solutions could be found on a financial and managerial level. In 2009, he resigned from the position for personal reasons, but returned a few months later. He finally resigned for good in January 2012.
