Villa Lakhania Location
The island of Rhodes is full of natural beauty and landmark sights. You won’t need to go far from Diagoras International Airport, about 20 minutes’ drive from the city of Rhodes, to start appreciating it all for yourself. The eponymous capital lies on the northern tip of the island. A walk along the Old Town’s medieval walls offers you beautiful views, accessible from the World Heritage Site, Palace of the Grand Masters. The palace museum is a good place to familiarise yourself with local history, and just one of the town’s cultural high-points. Particularly notable is the Museum of Modern Greek Art, whose eclectic collection is only rivalled by Athens. At Mandráki harbour you will find Evangelismós Cathedral, known for its impressive frescoes, while the Old Town itself is brimming with architectural brilliance.
Head further south and you have resorts such as Ammoudes, Kolympia and Faliraki, where an excellent beach and children’s water-park make it a good place for a family day out. Further still and there is another notable attraction in the form of the spectacular Lindos Acropolis. You can easily get out and explore the natural world too, with the Valley of the Butterflies, Epta Piges nature reserve and many wineries all well worth a visit.
