Description of Villa Sappho

4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms

Villa Sappho Overview

Modern and conveniently located, around 6km from Rhodes and the airport, Villa Sappho is a stunning 4-bedroom villa with some wondrous outdoor spaces. Just a short drive from the beach and Rhodes Old Town, up to eight guests can enjoy its pool, hot tub and supreme style.

A large terrace with inviting seating and dining areas, a barbecue and plenty of poolside sun loungers is one of this property’s highlights. Beautiful views of the Ialyssos countryside and a peaceful setting make it a real pleasure to unwind here. The garden has several lawn areas with palm trees, and offers lots of space for children to play.

It’s just a few steps from the pool to the villa’s interior living space, accessed via patio doors. Inside, you have lots of seating in two adjacent areas, plus TV, DVD, a games console and lots more to play with. This open-plan space leads you through to a dining area and a well-equipped kitchen with everything you could need, from a dishwasher and coffee machine right down to wine glasses.

The villa has three double bedrooms and one twin bedroom, all of which have direct access to the upper terrace or a balcony. As well as two bathrooms, the villa offers all kinds of extras, including baby cots, extra-long beds and free Wi-Fi throughout.

You will be just a few minutes’ drive from the island’s historic capital, where the Old Town and its Palace of the Grand Masters is one of the main attractions. As well as giving you an interesting lesson in Rhodes’ history, it supplies some stunning views of the area. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and opportunities to shop in Rhodes too, along with popular attractions like the Acropolis and Colossus.

The capital lies at the island’s northernmost point – head south and a string of beautiful beaches await you, with those in Faliraki, Afandou and Kolympia among many worth a visit.

Villa Sappho Location

Hugely popular as a tourist destination, Rhodes is an island with more than its fair share of natural beauty and landmark sights. Easy to reach, with an international airport, Diagoras, about 20 minutes’ drive from the capital, it would be a shame to miss out on discovering its charms for yourself.

The town of Rhodes is as good a place to start as any and lies on the northern tip of the island. A walk along the medieval walls of the Old Town will offer you some beautiful views, accessible from the must-see Palace of the Grand Masters. Part of a World Heritage Site, this is also the location of a fine museum which offers the chance to familiarise yourself with Rhodian history, extending as far back as the 3rd century BC.

Another museum worth checking out is the Museum of Modern Greek Art, with an eclectic collection only rivalled by Athens. The New Town area is visually appealing itself, with an Art Deco influence present in much of its architecture. Mandráki harbour is the home of Evangelismós Cathedral, where you can find some impressive frescoes.

The Lindos Acropolis is as spectacular as the coastal views it enjoys, and definitely worth seeing. Down the coast, you also have resorts such as Ammoudes, Kolympia and, perhaps best-known, Faliraki. While its reputation may precede it, this is not the hedonism capital it once was. A children’s water-park and the beautiful Anthony Quinn Bay may tempt you there during the day, and an aquarium and scuba-diving school also embrace the aquatic theme. At the very southern tip of the island, Prasonisi’s location – dividing the Aegean and the Mediterranean – is considered prime wind-surfing territory. But if that sounds a little too exhilarating, Rhodes’ more sedate attractions like the Valley of the Butterflies, numerous wineries and the seven springs of the wonderfully scenic Epta Piges nature reserve, will provide just as pleasant a day out.
